STONISH
New technologies combine resin, paper and stone to weave stone: the resulting fabric, just 0,1 mm thick, is light, flexible and effectively maintains the unique aesthetic qualities of the stone it was made from.
It’s the search for an application for this newborn material, just barely used in interiors as a two-dimensional décor, that lead to its coupling with different kinds of fabrics (microfiber, neoprene, cotton). The stone fabric acquired softness, consistency and strength.
Stonish it challenges, but plays, the manifold relationships between sight and touch with a theatrical approach: this is a comedy of contrasts and similarities, requiring physical proximity and engagement to fully disclose its deeper narrative, creating a perceptive oxymoron.
